What it does

Existing law establishes a prima facie speed limit of 25 miles per hour on any highway other than a state highway, in a business or residence district, except as specified. Under existing law, a "residence district" is a portion of highway and contiguous property other than a business district, with 13 or more separate dwelling houses or business structures on one side of the highway, or 16 or more separate dwelling houses or business structures on both sides of the highway, within a distance of 14 mile.
