What it does
Existing law requires a state agency or department to follow specified rules regarding the negotiation of fees and execution of contracts for professional consulting services of a private architectural, engineering, land surveying, environmental, or construction project management firm. Existing law requires the state to begin negotiations with a successful bidder to a contract described above within 14 days after the firm has been notified of its selection or upon receipt of the cost proposal.
