What it does
Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987. Provides that upon issuing a temporary custody order for an alleged abused, neglected, or dependent minor, the court may appoint one or both parents or the legal guardian of the minor as the educational surrogate or early intervention program surrogate for the minor upon request if the parent or legal guardian requests the appointment and the court finds that the best interests of the minor are consistent with the appointment. Provides that the court may appoint a person other than a parent or legal guardian as educational surrogate or early intervention program surrogate if the person is not a party to the abuse, neglect, or dependency of the minor,…
