What it does
Existing law establishes various public assistance programs to provide protection, care, and assistance to the people of the state who are in need of those services. Existing law defines "public assistance" and "public assistance programs" to refer to specified public social services programs, including, among others, the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program, adult day health care programs, programs for the aged, blind, and disabled, and in-home supportive services.
