What it does

Amends the Department of Human Services Act and the State Finance Act. Creates the Support Immigrant Labor Fund as a special fund in the State treasury. Provides that, from appropriations to the Department from the Fund, the Department shall award grants to community-based organizations in Illinois for the purpose of providing free assistance to newly arrived immigrants in Illinois in applying for and obtaining work permits, for providing funding for all or a portion of all costs and fees associated with an application for such work permit, and providing for free representation in any legal matters with such application.
