What it does
Amends the School Code. Provides that if a pupil is suspended for one or more school days, then, for that period of suspension, the pupil's parent or guardian may place the pupil in a community-based education program approved by the State Board of Education and the school district must pay the community-based education program an amount equal to one-half of the amount the school spends per pupil per day for each day that the pupil is suspended and attends the program. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective July 1, 2003.
