What it does

Existing law establishes a system of public elementary and secondary schools in this state. Under this system, school districts provide instruction to pupils in kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive. Existing law establishes a system for the provision of state funding for public elementary and secondary schools. This funding system is based upon, among other factors, the average daily attendance levels of pupils enrolled at schools throughout the state.
