The Disaster Preparedness and Flood Prevention Bond Act of 2006 authorizes bonds in the amount of $4,090,000,000 for the purposes of financing disaster preparedness and flood prevention projects and makes $3,000,000,000 available, upon appropriation to the Department of Water Resources, for the evaluation, repair, rehabilitation, reconstruction, or replacement of levees, weirs, bypasses, and facilities of the State Plan of Flood Control, for improving or adding facilities to the State Plan of Flood Control to increase levels of flood protection in urban areas, and to reduce the risk of levee failure in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
