What it does

Under existing law, the Franchise Tax Board collects and administers taxes imposed under the Personal Income Tax Law and the Corporation Tax Law. The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration collects and administers, among others, taxes imposed under the Sales and Use Tax Law, the Bradley-Burns Uniform Sales and Use Tax Law, and local laws imposed pursuant to the Transactions and Use Tax Law. Existing law sets forth various penalties, including penalties for the nonpayment or late payment of those taxes, and the failure to file or intentional filing of incorrect returns.
