What it does
(1) Existing law authorizes a pupil to be referred to a school attendance review board, or to the probation department for services if the probation department has elected to receive these referrals, if the pupil is habitually truant, a chronic absentee, or is habitually insubordinate or disorderly at school. Existing law requires the school attendance review board or probation officer to direct those pupils or their parents or guardians to make use of community services, if available.
