What it does
Existing law makes any person who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and not disqualified from holding a civil office, eligible to be elected or appointed a member of a governing board of a school district, as provided. Existing law prohibits a person from holding a civil office if, at the time of election or appointment, the person is not 18 years of age and a citizen of the state, as defined.
