(a)

Required; application.

(1)

It shall be unlawful for any person to establish or maintain, or to permit the establishment or maintenance of, a tourist camp or trailer parking site upon any property owned or controlled by him in the town unless there exists a valid license therefor, granted by the town council and existing in compliance with the provisions of this article.

(2)

The application for such license shall be accompanied by plans of the proposed or existing tourist camp, showing the location of all buildings, driveways, unit layouts, toilet facilities, bath, laundry facilities, slop sinks and other improvements. Such license may be granted to anyone meeting the requirements in a complete and proper manner in the discretion of the town council.

(b)

(c)

Revocation; suspension. All licenses to maintain and operate tourist camps or trailer parking sites may be revoked or suspended in the discretion of the town council for violation of applicable law after notice to the licensee and an opportunity to be heard. Failure or refusal on the part of any operator or manager of any tourist camp or trailer parking site to reasonably and promptly comply with the order or direction of the chief of police, the chief of the fire department, the health department or the town engineer in any matters which properly are within the scope of the duties of any of the town officers shall be deemed sufficient cause for revocation or suspension of such camp or parking site operator's or management's license to operate.

Sec. 14-489. - Density requirements; exception.#

(a)

No unit in any tourist camp or trailer parking site shall contain less than 750 square feet of land, and no such unit shall be permitted to be occupied by more than one tent or trailer.

(b)

The provisions of this section, however, shall not be construed to prohibit any property owner, residing upon his land, from accommodating the automobile trailers of nonpaying guests, nor shall they be so constructed so as to prevent any property owner from erecting, subject to any properly applicable ordinance of the town, overnight cabins.

(Code 1986, § 12-326)

Sec. 14-490. - Public safety, peace and health requirements.#

Whenever in any tourist camp or trailer parking site the management wilfully or negligently allows and permits a condition to exist, wherein in the discretion of the chief of police, the public peace or public morals are adversely affected, or in the discretion of the chief of the fire department the public safety is endangered from an unusual fire risk; or in the discretion of the health department officials the public health is menaced; or in the discretion of the town engineer, the public safety is endangered by reason of the existence of electrical or mechanical hazards, the chief of police in his own discretion or on recommendation of any of the above-mentioned officials shall notify the management of such tourist camp or trailer parking site to promptly remedy such condition, suspend the license of such camp or parking site to operate, pending future action of the town council. Whenever such action is taken by the chief of police he or such other town officer as may be concerned shall forthwith communicate to the several members of the town council, in writing, the action they have taken and their reasons therefor.
