Sec. 70-51. - Stop and yield intersections.#
The driver of any vehicle on the highways and streets of the town shall make a complete stop at the intersections enumerated in sections 70-52 and 70-53 at which a stop sign is erected at a clearly marked stop line, or, if none, before entering the crosswalk on the nearest side of the intersection, or, if none, at a point where the driver has a view of the approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the intersection, and shall proceed cautiously, yielding to vehicles not so obliged to stop which are within the intersection or approaching so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard.

Sec. 70-52. - Stop intersections.#

Sec. 70-53. - Yield intersections.#
Yield signs shall be erected and traffic controlled in conformance with section 70-51 on the following streets and highways within the town: Controlled Intersection

Sec. 70-54. - Streets closed to traffic from specific direction.#
Arnold Avenue. All vehicular traffic shall be prohibited from traveling in a westerly direction on Arnold Avenue between the intersection of Westwind Drive and Melrose Avenue.
Bay View Drive. All vehicular traffic shall be prohibited from traveling in a southerly direction on Bay View Drive from that portion of said avenue bounded on the south by the Newport Bridge and a "Do Not Enter" sign shall be erected at such location.
Reservoir Circle. All traffic is prohibited from travelling clockwise on Reservoir Circle.
Watson Avenue. All vehicular traffic, excluding school buses and those persons residing on Watson Avenue between the intersections of Lawn Avenue and Washington Street, is prohibited on Watson Avenue between the intersections of Washington Street and Lawn Avenue, between 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m., Monday through Friday annually from September 1 to July 1.

Sec. 70-55. - Restrictions on certain streets.#
(a)
Any commercially-registered vehicle weighing over 7,000 pounds GVRW is prohibited on the following streets. This prohibition shall not apply to commercially-registered vehicles going to or coming from places upon such streets for the purpose of making deliveries of goods or providing services to property owners or similar activities for abutting lands or buildings, or federal, state, public service corporation or town-owned vehicles, or emergency response vehicles.
Carr Lane;
Columbia Avenue (restricted 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. only) from a point 200 feet south of West Street and continuing to the intersection of Windsor Street;
Reservoir Circle.
(b)
All motorized vehicles as defined by G.L. 1956, 31-1-3 (s) are prohibited from driving or parking on shared pathway.
(1)
Shared pathway shall include the improved portion of the town property designated for the use of pedestrians and bicyclist.
(2)
Exception
a.
Motorized vehicles are permitted to cross shared pathway in a perpendicular manner to enter or exit a private or public driveway.
b.
Service and emergency vehicles.
