ARTICLE XI. - VEHICLE LOAD AND WEIGHT LIMITS

Sec. 36-625. - Observance of vehicle weight limits.#

When signs are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall operate any commercial vehicle with a gross weight in excess of the amount specified upon any roadway, street or highway of the city.

Sec. 36-626. - Restricted collection, deliveries, loading/unloading of materials.#

(a)

When signs are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall operate any commercial vehicle within the specified time upon any of the streets, or parts thereof, made a part of this chapter.

(1)

Collection of debris on certain streets. A person shall not operate a vehicle for the purpose of collecting ashes, rubbish or garbage on certain streets or parts thereof during such times as specified in this article.

(2)

Delivery of fuels on certain streets. A person shall not operate a vehicle for the purpose of the delivery of coal or oil on certain streets, or parts thereof, during such times as specified in this article.

(3)

Loading/unloading merchandise on certain streets. A person shall not operate a truck, trailer, semitrailer or tractor-trailer for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise or other equipment on certain streets, or parts thereof, during the times specified in this article.

(b)

The provisions of subsection (a) of this section will not apply when the director of public safety grants permission under extreme hardships.

Sec. 36-627. - Commercial vehicle operation in restricted areas.#

When signs are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall operate any commercial vehicle at any time upon any of the streets, or parts thereof, described and made a part of this chapter, during the hours of 8:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m., unless otherwise authorized by special permit issued by the public safety director or designee.

Sec. 36-628. - Weight limits on bridges.#

The following bridges are limited to vehicles with gross weights no greater than as designated herein: Bridge RIDOT
